A Win for the Good Guys
On Monday, May 16, the Louisiana State Senate met to hold a concurrence vote on Senator Fred Mills’ bill, SB 271, which will expand medical marijuana in Louisiana to include those with debilitating illnesses like cancer, HIV/AIDS, MS, and epileptic disorders and change language to allow a physician to recommend medical marijuana vs. prescribing. We’re proud to say that the vote went in our favor with 22 yeas and 14 nays, and was subsequently signed into law by Governor John Bel Edwards.
After three years of hard work, scores of Louisiana families will now be able to give their children and loved ones this potentially life-changing medication. It’s incredibly rewarding when you get to do public relations and political work for genuinely good people. We’ve been fortunate to work alongside some of the best for past three years. LR3 has proudly stood alongside the Louisiana Cannabis Association and championed this legislation since day one, and it’s unbelievably satisfying to see those efforts pay off. It doesn’t happen as much as it should, but sometimes the good guys win.
